NDMstudios Marks a Historic European Expansion with New Offices in Paris, Cannes, and Seville

IN a defining moment for global independent cinema, NDMstudios has officially expanded its international footprint with the establishment of new representative offices in the iconic cultural capitals of Paris, Cannes, and Seville—a bold and prestigious milestone that signals the studio’s growing influence across Europe’s dynamic film and entertainment landscape.

The expansion follows the company’s successful participation at the world-renowned Marché du Film in Cannes 2026, where NDMstudios executives Nijel de Mesa, the studio’s visionary owner-founder-CEO, and Jan Christine, Executive Vice President, engaged with international distributors, filmmakers, producers, and creative partners from across the globe.

This strategic European expansion underscores the company’s commitment to elevating Asian storytelling onto the world stage while simultaneously embracing diverse voices and narratives from Europe. At the center of this new chapter is Sylvie Ann Mariano, a Filipino born and raised in France, who has been appointed as the first-ever Managing Director for NDMstudios Europe. Her appointment represents not only a bridge between cultures, but also the beginning of a deeply collaborative creative era for the studio.

NDMstudios is now actively scouting emerging and established French and Spanish actors for upcoming international productions in both French and Spanish languages. The move reflects the company’s ambition to produce globally resonant stories that transcend borders while remaining rooted in authentic cultural experiences.

Among the most anticipated projects currently in development is the new NDM Original feature film, CRIMES OF ANDALUSIA—a gripping cinematic drama set against the hauntingly beautiful backdrop of Spain. The story was penned by acclaimed Spanish novelist Marco Miguel, whose literary craftsmanship has garnered admiration across Spanish-speaking audiences.

The screenplay adaptation is being written by Palanca award-winning writer Nijel de Mesa, adding another layer of prestige and artistic excellence to the production.

In a unique creative collaboration, Marco Miguel will also appear in the film, portraying the trusted friend of the lead protagonist—a role expected to bring emotional complexity and depth to the narrative. Filming is slated to take place in Spain, further strengthening NDMstudios’ immersive engagement with European cinema and storytelling traditions.

To support its growing operations in Spain, Paolo Sergio, a resident of Seville, has likewise been designated as a talent scout for the company. His role will focus on discovering exceptional Spanish talent and forging stronger ties between NDMstudios and the vibrant artistic communities of the Iberian Peninsula.

Beyond CRIMES OF ANDALUSIA, discussions and collaborative ventures with European Union producers, directors, and filmmakers are already underway, promising a future filled with ambitious co-productions, culturally rich narratives, and internationally competitive cinema.
