Festival Director Mark Sakay summed it up best: “Pawscars is more than just a film competition. It’s a celebration of the unconditional love and joy that pets bring to our lives — stories that deserve to be seen and heard by everyone.”
Direk Joey, a pet parent himself, shared, “This isn’t just about filmmaking. This is about connection — the kind only pets can spark.”

Direk Arvin added, “I’ve never directed an animal before, so I’m curious and excited to see new stories that show why we love our pets so much.”

And Direk Joseph pointed out, “Sometimes, this bond with animals is the only thing giving us peace of mind. That’s why stories like these matter.”

The festival is open to all Filipino nationals worldwide, regardless of filmmaking background. No big-budget crew needed — just heart, honesty, and a camera.

How and where to score your tickets for Puregold’s OPM Con 2025

Puregold’s OPM Con 2025, the most hotly anticipated music event of the year, is coming up on July 5, bringing together some of the biggest names in Filipino music: SB19, BINI, Flow G, Skusta Clee, KAIA, G22, and SunKissed Lola, among others.

With hordes of fans—here and abroad—raring to join OPM Con 2025’s night of revelry, Puregold senior marketing manager Ivy Hayagan-Piedad excitedly says, “This is because a panalo concert means two things: a world-class show our shoppers can enjoy without breaking the bank, and a chance for our artists to give their all for the fans they love.”

Responding to the frenzy over OPM Con 2025, over 50 Puregold branches nationwide will open their doors on May 30 to shoppers looking to attend the biggest gathering of Pinoy musical artists.

And Puregold is making it easy for all Aling Puring and Perks card members. Here’s how: to receive a free ticket to OPM Con 2025, they must make a minimum single receipt purchase of groceries that corresponds to their ticket type.

The ticket types and their purchase requirements are as follows:

VIP Standing with Sound Check (PHP 7,500)

Premium Patron (PHP 6,000)

Regular Patron (PHP 5,000)

Lower Box Premium (PHP 4,500)

Lower Box Regular (PHP 3,500)

Upper Box (PHP 2,500)

General Admission (PHP 1,500)

Getting a ticket can be done in a few easy steps. First, upon arriving at Puregold, get a queueing number of your desired ticket type. Second, buy groceries equivalent to the value of the ticket selected. For Patron Regular/Premium and Lower Box Regular/Premium tickets, P-wallet cash in receipts will be accepted.

Next, present your Aling Puring or Perks card, queuing number, and receipt at the Enlistment and Confirmation booth where the transaction number will be logged. Remember, keep the receipt or take a picture of it as the transaction number will be the exclusive code needed to redeem tickets at the Ticketnet Online website.

Only members whose names appear in the Aling Puring or Perks cards may redeem their free tickets via Ticketnet Online any time from June 9 to June 22, 2025. Members must therefore make sure to create an account on the Ticketnet website.

Members should take note that they may only claim a maximum of one ticket per transaction. They may claim either a maximum of two tickets for Patron Regular/ Premium or a maximum of four tickets for Lower Box Premium/Regular, Upper Box and General Admission per member. If a member makes more than two qualified transactions, only the two transactions with the highest amounts will be honored.

Adults securing tickets for minors should keep in mind that minors must be accompanied by an adult ticket holder on the concert day. A waiver must also be accomplished upon entry to the Philippine Arena. The minimum age allowed in the VIP soundcheck section is 10 years old, while other tiers may have children as young as 4 years old.

EastWest Bank credit card holders are likewise in luck. Cardholders of good standing may participate in an advanced pre-selling to be held in participating Puregold branches on May 28. Afterwards, they may claim their tickets from Ticketnet Online between June 6 and June 8, 2025.

Globe unveils ‘Globe of Good’ as unified sustainability platform

GLOBE has formally launched Globe of Good as its new sustainability masterbrand that brings together all of the company’s environmental and social impact programs under a single, cohesive platform.

Long woven into Globe’s DNA, sustainability has guided its initiatives across digital inclusion, climate-conscious operations, and community upliftment.

With Globe of Good, the mobile network leader seeks to make its sustainability message more accessible and engaging to the general public—helping customers, employees, and partners recognize and participate in its efforts to create lasting, positive change.

“This initiative is our commitment to embed sustainability in everything we do, in the way we operate, serve, and lead. A tale of longing, grief, and the enduring capacity to love amid life's complexities—this is Puregold Channel’s ‘Si Sol at siLuna’, a provocative new digital series starring Zaijian Jaranilla and Jane Oineza.

Launching on May 31, Saturday, the show promises a beautifully crafted narrative brought to life by stunning visuals unlike anything seen before in digital entertainment.

Zaijian Jaranilla stars as Sol in this complex tale of longing and grief.

The series’ pilot episode, “Babae sa Bus,” which is set to premiere on the Puregold Channel on YouTube, follows Sol, Jaranilla’s character, as he works on a film about love. Here, Sol grapples with a challenge posed by his professor: to create a documentary on something he has yet to experience.

This seemingly daunting task leads Sol straight into the silent torment of Luna, portrayed by Oineza, and into what two lost souls find in each other.

Jane Oineza stars as Luna, a heartbroken woman.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dolly Dulu, ‘Si Sol at si Luna’ features powerful performances from Jaranilla and Oineza that demonstrate their respective range and talent as actors.

Known for stories that are not only viral hits but also poignantly told, Puregold Channel this time delivers a show that takes cinematic images and intimate storytelling into the digital realm.

Sol’s world is bathed in warmth and brightness, emphasizing his youthful demeanor and perspective.

Puregold Senior Marketing Manager, Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, expounds on how the series levels up from what Puregold has so far offered. “This is a landmark moment for Filipino entertainment—a bold new chapter in Puregold’s vision of presenting thoughtfully crafted stories that resonate with Filipino audiences. Si Sol at si Luna’s first episode will definitely bring the cinematic experience to a platform that is free and accessible.”

Joining Jaranilla and Oineza in the series is a strong ensemble cast that includes Joao Constancia, Karina Bautista, Cheena Crab, Marnie Lapus, Uzziel Delamide, Lyle Viray, Vaughn Piczon, Jem Manicad, and Atasha Franco.

The talented ensemble rounds out the cast and expands the world of the two lead characters.

Globe launches GoGIVE, helping communities through everyday digital habits

GLOBE is finding new and meaningful ways to help Filipinos give back—simply by going about their day.

Whether they’re using mobile data, redeeming points, or transacting online, customers are now empowered to support causes they care about through three of Globe’s purpose-driven innovations.

One of these is GoGIVE, a unique feature on the GlobeOne app that turns everyday mobile data usage into a chance to help. Each time a Globe Prepaid user uses their data to stream a video, scroll through social media, play online games, or chat with friends, they collect "hearts" for every gigabyte they consume.

These hearts are automatically sent to support the real-world advocacies and causes close to their hearts—from helping rescue animals and protecting forests, to advancing women’s digital literacy, supporting children’s education, and aiding medical frontliners.

“GoGIVE is designed to inspire our customers to create lasting change. By simply doing the things they love online, they will be able to make a difference each day,” said Givielle Florida, Head of Globe Prepaid. “This initiative reinforces Globe's dedication to sustainability and aligns with our purpose of uplifting lives through technology.”

Customers also have the option to donate through Globe Rewards, where they can convert their earned points into life-changing support for partner organizations such as the Hapag Movement, Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Medical Foundation, Hineleban Foundation, and others. Every point donated goes toward feeding the hungry, protecting the environment, or funding medical needs—proof that even the smallest acts can ripple outward and make a difference. In 2024, total donations raised from Globe Rewards amounted to Php17.8 million.

“We’ve always believed that rewards should go beyond personal benefit,” said Peter Ramirez, Head of Loyalty Program at Globe. “With just a few points, our customers can uplift lives, support communities, and be part of something bigger than themselves.”

For those who use GCash, the GForest feature has opened up an accessible way to build a greener future. With GForest, you can collect green energy from everyday transactions—send money, pay bills, buy load, cash in—as it lets GForest users, called ‘Green Heroes’, plant virtual trees that GCash then converts into actual ones.

As of 2024, more than 4 million actual trees have been planted, covering over 14,300 hectares of land—or around one-fourth the size of Metro Manila—supporting 11,200 farming families. From reforestation to agroforestry, and providing livelihood for local farmers and fisherfolk, the impact of each tree goes far beyond what’s seen on screen.

“GForest makes environmental action something you can do from your phone,” shared CJ Alegre, Head of Sustainability at GCash. “It’s a powerful way to show that technology and sustainability can go hand-in-hand, and that millions of small actions can lead to real positive change.”

By embedding purpose into everyday actions, Globe continues to lead the way in showing that technology, when used with intention, can help build a better, more compassionate world—one click, point, and tree at a time.

Alfred Vargas gives thanks for double victory; Education programs to be prioritized

ALFRED VARGAS extends double his gratitude to Quezon City’s District 5 for giving him and his brother, PM Vargas, a second opportunity to serve the district.

Through his instagram account, Alfred shared his feelings of gratitude by posting a video with the song “We are the Champions” of Queen. It featured him and his brother when they were campaigning, and the proclamation of their win alongside Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.

Councilor Alfred Vargas

On his post, Alfred wrote the caption, “We are the champions, my friend... And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end..

“To God be the glory!!!

“Doble-dobleng pasasalamat sa lahat ng ating kababayan para dito sa ating double victory sa District V!”
With this win, Alfred will immediately start his work so that he can continue his projects in the district, one of these is education.

"Starting this July, we will start rolling out our 'Alagang Vargas Scholarship Program 2.0, level up!' This educational assistance program aims to provide one scholar for every Novaleรฑo family. Isang pamilya, may isang iskolar. This scholarship is for elementary, high school and college levels and there is no grade requirement. Basta pasado ka, pasado ka na rin sa program! The scholarship will continue until the student graduates from college.

"So far, we have 20,000++ college graduate scholars already who are now accountants, managers, engineers, teachers, nurses and even elected barangay officials, among others!,” Alfred shared.

Congressman PM Vargas & Councilor Alfred Vargas

Like other candidates, the actor/politician also went through numerous hardships while campaigning. Various fake news and disinformation were thrown at him, but his district fought for him. Alfred’s brother, PM, also stayed beside him throughout the entire journey.

For that, Alfred feels extremely grateful, “Maraming salamat sa inyong pagmamahal, supprta at tiwala through the years! Sa gitna ng napakaraming paninira, fake news, kataksilan, kasinungalingan at pandaraya, nanatili kayong tapat at totoo at nanindigan para sa prinsipyo at tunay na serbisyo. Inilaban ninyo kami kahit mahirap. Sinamahan niyo kami hanggang dulo!”

“Dito natin napakita na isa tayong tunay na pamilyang magkasama sa hirap man o ginhawa at handang lumaban para sa tama at para sa isa't isa at para sa bayan!”

Yasmine and Alexandra Vargas

Alfred also commended his brother, PM, for being a genuine and honest leader whose aspiration is to always help others.

“Congrats bro Congressman PM Vargas @pmvargasph !!! Isa kang tunay na lider na may sinseridad, puso at tapang para sa mga mamamayan ng Novaliches. We are proud of you. Nanalo ka muli at mahal ka ng distrito dahil isa kang mabuting tao na may tunay na pagtulong at malasakit sa kapwa.”

At the end, Alfred promised that he will continue to serve truthfully and will make more programs that will be beneficial for the people in his district.

“Ang inyong lingkod naman po, Alfred Vargas, ay patuloy na maglilingkod nang totoo at lalo pa nating pagbubutihin ang ating mga programa at lalong palalakasin ang ating pagsasama.

“Novaliches, mahal na mahal kita. Maraming salamat po sa inyong muling pagtiwala!
#alagangvargas #elections #victory #grateful”

Aryan, Aurora, Alexandra and Cristiano Vargas

Aside from the people in his district, Alfred also extended his thanks to his wife, Yasmine Espiritu, and their children Alexandra Milan, Aryana Cassandra, Alfredo Cristiano, and Baby Aurora Sofia, for accompanying him when he was campaigning.

"I thanked them immensely, especially my wife. My family has sacrificed so much to support me these last 15 years in public service. So much of my time was spent serving others and sometimes, at the expense of my time with my family. But they understood me all the way and knew how much passion I had in trying to effect positive change. I have achieved so much because my wife and children supported me and for that, I am immensely grateful."
