Shopee, Shopee Xpress Partner with Brands and Charities to Aid Taal Evacuees

THE continued unrest of the Taal Volcano forced over 1,000 Filipino families to evacuate to nearby communities in Batangas last March.

With Alert Level 3 still in place, these families continue to spend their days in evacuation centers across the region.

As part of its commitment to better the lives of the underserved, Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, partnered with several brands and charity organizations to provide aid for Taal evacuees.

 

Shopee Philippines Director Martin Yu said, “As we remain steadfast in our commitment to be a force for good, especially in times when Filipinos need it the most, Shopee will work closely with our partners to help provide immediate relief to the evacuees. Our thoughts are with those affected and we hope that the situation in Taal will recover soon for these families to be able to return to their homes.”

Together with Shopee, partner brands such as Universal Robina Corporation, Colgate, and Monde Nissin, donated essentials such as drinking water and food items to affected residents. Through the help of its Shopee Xpress fleet and volunteers, Shopee transported and coursed donations through the ABS-CBN Foundation for the latter’s ongoing on-ground efforts. 

These Shopee Xpress volunteers also helped collate and distribute potable water donated by the Luzon Clean Water Development to evacuation centers in Batangas.

Shopee also invites users to donate to those affected by the taal eruption and other emergencies through its partner charities found on the app. 

Users simply need to:

A month away from the May 9 National Elections, most Filipinos have already selected their candidates for president and vice president.

Based on the recent Pulse Asia survey covering March 17 to 21, VP Leni Robredo and former Senator Kiko Pangilinan have advanced to 24% and 15% respectively.

This proves that while 3% of voters remain undecided, the general preference for candidates with a good track record and good governance platforms is steadily growing among voters.

But the race for senatoriables is still on. For Leni-Kiko voters, the 1Sambayan senatorial block guarantees a senatorial lineup that will support, amplify, and roll into action the vision of the Leni-Kiko tandem for a better Philippines. 1Sambayan offers an alternative to traditional politicians as it brings together 11 senatorial aspirants coming from different origins and backgrounds, but with only one goal to unite the country. 

Joining the 1Sambayan senatorial slate is eleventh senatorial candidate Monsour Del Rosario. A firm advocate for the ordinary Filipinos, he served the Filipino public for 6 years as an outstanding councilor, and 3 years as a hardworking congressman of the 1st District of Makati City. Known as the “Father of the Work From Home Law” who has authored/co-authored/sponsored over 292 bills in congress, Del Rosario aims to continue his good work in the senate to help the country’s health frontliners, athletes, children with different learning abilities, farmers and fishermen, and other marginalized sectors.

On Friday, April 8, 1Sambayan officially endorsed Del Rosario as one of its allies in bringing true reform to the government.

Binibigyan po kayo ng 1Sambayan ng magandang alternatibo at kasama po rito pang-11 sa aming listahan, isang taong tunay na nagtatrabaho at nagse-serbisyo sa tao, si Monsour Del Rosario," says 1Sambayan convenor Atty. Howard Calleja.

As for Del Rosario, a senate seat will not only mean victory for himself and 1Sambayan’s quest to bring good leadership to the national government, but a victory for the future of the country and improve the lives of many Filipinos.

Just as I fought for the country in sports, I will be as fervent and dedicated in this fight for a seat in the senate not for myself, but for the future of our countrymen. GMA recently announced that it is producing a local adaptation of the hit Korean drama series "Start-Up."

The program is about a group of young individuals eager to fulfill their dreams and start their own business. Other upcoming Kapuso shows include: “The Witness,” which talks about the life of a man with Asperger's syndrome who witnesses the death of a loved one and becomes obsessed with seeking justice; “Love Before Sunrise,” follows the story of two ex-lovers as they rekindle their feelings at a time when the two are already married; “What a Joy,” is a tale of a woman who is forced by her mother to assume another identity to improve their lives, but she only ended up being the object of affection of two brothers; and “Sang'gre,” which is about a young woman who manifests magical powers, not knowing she is the only child of the goddess Danaya.

The much-awaited Philippine franchise of the SBS Korea Original "Running Man Philippines” also airs this 2022. A new breed of talented artists who can make beautiful music together is also set to be discovered in the innovative singing contest "Sing for Hearts."

New Kapuso actor Xian Lim joins Glaiza De Castro in the primetime series "False Positive" airing in May. The romance-comedy showcases a neglected wife, who is made to feel inferior by her husband’s utter disregard of her feelings and sense of value as an expectant mother. In her frustration, she malevolently wishes in front of a magical fountain, resulting in the husband developing a fetus in his tummy.
