SPEEd and PlayTime Entertainment Ink Deal for 'The 9th EDDYS '

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) and digital entertainment company PlayTime Entertainment have officially joined forces for the upcoming 9th Entertainment Editors' Choice. 

The prestigious annual film awards will be officially presented as The 9th EDDYS presented by PlayTime Entertainment under the newly signed agreement.

The partnership was finalized during a contract signing ceremony held at the PlayTime Entertainment last June 22. The collaboration unites the country's premier circle of entertainment editors with the digital entertainment platform to celebrate and champion the finest achievements in Philippine cinema. 

Nominees to the event that will happen on July 5 were also revealed in a livestream on SPEEd’s Facebook page last June 25, held at the Luxent Hotel.

Leading the major categories for this year's awards are the following contenders:

• Best Picture: Bar Boys: After School, Eraserheads: Combo on the Run, I'm Perfect, Journeyman, Quezon, Sunshine, and UnMarry. 
• Best Actress: Mylene Dizon (Habang Nilalamon ng Hydra ang Kasaysayan), Barbie Forteza (Kontrabida Academy), Krystel Go (I'm Perfect), Angelica Panganiban (UnMarry), Maris Racal (Sunshine), and Charo Santos (Only We Know).

Top Films, Biggest Stars vie for The 9th Eddys’ Golden Scroll

THE Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) ushers in the second half of the year with the unveiling of the nominees for the prestigious The Entertainment Editors’ Choice, more popularly known as The Eddys.

In its 9th edition, the announcement was made on June 25 at Luxent Hotel in Quezon City, with the presentation streamed live on PlayTime Entertainment’s YouTube channel. The event served as a curtain-raiser to the grand awards night set for July 5 at the Ceremonial Hall of the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Newport World Resorts, Pasay City.

This year, the finest achievements in Philippine filmmaking across 14 competitive categories will be honored, recognizing works that have elevated the local cinematic landscape through compelling storytelling, artistic vision, and technical mastery.

Seven distinct and masterfully crafted films that offer a compelling lens on the Filipino experience are vying for Best Picture: Bar Boys: After School, Eraserheads: Combo on the Run, I’m Perfect, Journeyman, Quezon, Sunshine, and UnMarry.

THE road to the 9th Entertainment Editors' Choice, more popularly known as The Eddys, reaches an exciting milestone today, June 25, as the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) officially unveils this year's nominees during a special presentation at the Cedar Function Room of Luxent Hotel in Quezon City.

The event begins at 2 p.m. and will be streamed live on the PlayTime Entertainment YouTube channel, allowing movie fans and industry followers nationwide to witness the announcement of this year's contenders for the country's premier awards honoring excellence in Filipino filmmaking.

Hosted by SPEEd member Jun Lalin of "Abante," the program will feature the rest of the entertainment editors' group led by President Tessa Mauricio-Arriola of The Manila Times, who will announce the nominees across 14 competitive categories.

Joining the nominees reveal are the stars of the upcoming thriller, "Mantsa," Shira Tweg and Khai Flores, who will present the nominees for the four major awards: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director and Best Picture. 

Singer Isha Ponti will provide entertainment during the event.

Slated on July 11 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, OPM Con Generations has consistently shaped up to be a much-anticipated annual music event. Now on its third year, OPM Con will feature SB19, Ben&Ben, Alamat, Flow G, Skusta Clee, Sunkissed Lola, G22, KAIA, and Xonara, bringing together a diverse mix of artists and genres that continue to define the Philippines’ music scene. 

Participating Puregold stores included branches in Taytay, Rizal; Biñan, Laguna; Anabu-Imus, Cavite; Valenzuela; QI Central, QC; Cubao, QC; Fairview Terraces, QC; Tayuman, Manila; Parañaque; Kalentong, Manila; Cainta, Rizal; and San Pedro, Laguna.

“Whenever I listen to their music, may message talaga, and that's what draws me to them,” she said. “It’s so nice that Puregold is doing this because it’s really encouraging to see our OPM music and industry continue to rise. Hopefully tuloy-tuloy lang because I really enjoy going to these events.”

Meanwhile, Arnel Lamber, who also came the night before to secure his place in the queue, said he was thankful for initiatives that give fans the opportunity to see their favorite artists live. On top of his regular grocery purchases, he was able to secure a ticket to OPM Con Generations and now looks forward to attending the concert.

The countdown to Puregold’s OPM Con Generations is officially on! As OPM fans gear up for a night headlined by some of today’s brightest talents in Original Pinoy Music, Puregold is launching its signature ticket redemption activities on June 12, giving customers the chance to secure free concert tickets through their grocery purchases.

Happening on July 11 at the Araneta Coliseum, OPM Con Generations will bring together SB19, Ben&Ben, Alamat, Flow G, Skusta Clee, SunKissed Lola, G22, KAIA, and Xonara for an epic night of retailtainment, the third of Puregold’s much-celebrated annual music event.

 

From June 12 onwards, Aling Puring and Perks members may redeem free concert tickets through qualified single-receipt purchases made at participating Puregold stores.

The required minimum single-receipt purchase amounts for each ticket category are as follows:

 

VIP Standing - ₱8,500 minimum purchase

Patron - ₱7,000 minimum purchase

Lower Box - ₱5,500 minimum purchase

Upper Box - ₱4,000 minimum purchase

Each qualified transaction entitles a member to one concert ticket, with a maximum of two tickets per member throughout the ticketing period. If a member makes more than two qualified transactions, only the two transactions with the highest purchase amounts will be honored. For VIP Standing and Patron tickets, cash-in to P-Wallet account will be allowed as proof of purchase to redeem a ticket.

 

Concert tickets are non-transferable and are not intended for resale. Puregold reserves the right to cancel tickets or refuse entry to holders of tickets obtained through unauthorized channels.

 

Minors attending the concert must be accompanied by an adult ticketholder. A waiver must also be accomplished upon entry to the venue.

 

Tickets for OPM Con Generations may be redeemed across participating Puregold stores nationwide: Taytay, Rizal; Biñan, Laguna; Anabu-Imus, Cavite; Valenzuela; QI Central, Quezon City; Cubao, Quezon City; Fairview Terraces, Quezon City; Tayuman, Tondo, Manila; Parañaque; Kalentong, San Andres, Manila; Q. Plaza, Cainta, Rizal; and San Pedro, Laguna.

 

For customers in the provinces, Puregold is rolling out a limited Regional Fan Pass initiative, giving more fans outside Metro Manila and even outside the Philippines, the opportunity to sign up and avail of tickets while supplies last.

 

With ticket inventory expected to move quickly across all tiers, customers are encouraged to visit participating stores early and secure their preferred sections while available.
