THE White Christmnas that we missed for the past three years is back at Snow World Manila, and it’s not only the winter feeling, the good old man from the North Pole, Santa Clause is back. 

He will be back live every now and then to cheer up children who would visit his house at Snow World. 

Should you feel cold inside, there is our coffee shop right inside the Snow World, and on top of that Snow World now offers an anytime-all time Noche Buena treat of the popular Bangkok street food, sticky rice with fresh mangoes, which is very similar with our native “mangga at suman”. 

They also brought to Manila the popular Cebu Chicken Rice, which is very close to the Hainanese chicken dish at very affordable price.  Both will be available for a hundred and ten pesos if you’re a visitor of Snow World. 

So now you don’t only enjoy the winter weather but a good Noche Buena anytime. That makes Christmas complete at Snow World Manila.

Snow World Manila is now open daily from 3 p.m. onwards from Monday to Thursday. And from 1 p.m. onwards on Fridays to Sundays.

And the surprise is, Santa Clause himself, together with the Snowman will be appearing live at Snow World Manila every now and then to cheer up visitors and pose for pictures.

MMFF Light Drama “Family Matters” Celebrates Love For Family

 

FROM the creative team that brought the Metro Manila Film Festival box-office hit, “Miracle in Cell No. 7,” comes another heartwarming tale that’s sure to bring inspiration and laughter to moviegoers of all ages. 

 

The winning tandem of director Nuel Naval and writer Mel Mendoza-del Rosario have joined forces again for another project; this time a light, intimate family drama entitled “Family Matters.” 

The movie produced by Cineko Productions features an all-star ensemble composed of Noel Trinidad, Liza Lorena, Nonie Buencamino, Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, James Blanco, Nikki Valdez, JC Santos, Ana Luna, Ina Feleo, Ketchup Eusebio, Roxanne Guinoo, and introducing, Ian Pangilinan. 

"Family Matters" is an official entry to the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival opening in cinemas nationwide on December 25. 

 

The story is about senior married couple Francisco and Eleanor, and their four children: Kiko, the successful son; Fortune, the homemaker; Ellen, the unmarried daughter; and Enrico, the happy-go-lucky son. Things are shaken up when Ellen, the primary caregiver, decides to fly to the US to take a chance on finding love. Ellen’s absence makes the rest of the siblings anxious, as each one takes turns in caring for and watching Eleanor and especially the frail Francisco. 

The film’s relatable charm and touching message won the approval of Cineko executives led by Mayor Enrico Roque who wanted to produce a family-oriented movie. Mel and Direk Nuel pitched the story of “Family Matters” and Cineko quickly gave the greenlight. 

“They were looking for a family drama dahil matagal na ngang walang napo-produce ng ganito,” Mel says of Mayor Roque and his partners. “When they read the script, nagustuhan agad. Halos walang comment. We (Nuel and I) had a free hand in the casting and the making of the film.” 

The concept had been with Mel for some time and she and Direk Nuel had been searching for a producer since 2018 until finally, the script found its way to Cineko in 2022. “For me this is the right time for ‘Family Matters,’” declares Direk Nuel. 

“Because the pandemic made us realize how fleeting life is. We must make the most of our time with our family and loved ones. Bigyan natin ng halaga ang ating mga mahal sa buhay hindi bukas… kundi ngayon,” he emphasizes. 

With a few days away from the December 25 playdate, “Family Matters” has already gained a huge following. In fact, its trailer has gotten 35 million-plus views across all platforms as of this writing. 

 

Mel and Direk Nuel point out that whatever your age, gender, social status or affiliation, you are bound to find yourself in the film. “Maraming light and funny moments… Totoong nangyayari sa pamilya. It’s the story of every Filipino family.”

The Senator visited the graves of Italian composer Giochino Antonio Rossini who is known for his operas and chamber music; architect Georges-Eugéne Haussmann who is the father of urban planning; French romantic artist Eugéne Delacroix; French novelist Honoré de Balzac who is one of the favorite literary writers of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.; French painter Théodore Gericault; American singer Jim Morrison; French playwright Moliére; and Irish playwright and poet Oscar Wilde. 

The budget-conscious Dakilang Ilokana also gave tips on how to enjoy the City Of Lights without spending too much as she made the rounds of Paris’ most affordable vintage shops and budget-friendly restaurants and cafés as well as its beautiful and breathtaking landmarks.

IT was a chance encounter that led to instant friendship.

Rep. Geraldine Roman got up close and personal with Ms. Charo Santos-Concio, who was named Best Actress at the 5th EDDYS, presented by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) last November 27 at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila.

At the courtyard of the historic, newly restored theater, once the center of Manila’s art and culture scene, the two ladies exchanged pleasantries and notes on how they can further advance their advocacies.

Some of Rep. Roman’s advocacies are equality, Oh My Gulay! Healthy Na, May Kita Pa Program, Ecotourism, Basic Digital Literacy Training.

Equality is a cause that’s just as close to the heart of the former ABS-CBN president.

It was the second best actress win for Charo for her work in the Visayan-language film, 'Kun Maupay It Panahon'. She earlier nabbed a FAMAS.

Rep. Roman was among special guests at the 5th EDDYs, where she served as presentor in a segment that honored movie icons.

Charo Santos, Christian Bables Won Best Actress and Best Actor, 'On The Job: The Missing 8’ Big Winner at The 5th EDDYS

ERIK Matti’s crime thriller film 'On The Job: The Missing 8' walked home as the big winner at The 5th EDDYS (Entertainment Editors' Choice) held at the Manila Metropolitan Theater a week ago (November 27, 2022).

Presenting the award were Eugene Asis, SPEEd President and People’s Journal Entertainment Editor, and Charo Santos-Concio, who also won Best Actress for 'Kun Maupay Man It Panahon'.

Although Matti wasn’t around to accept the award himself, a representative from ANIMA and 'On The Job: The Missing 8' executive producer received the recognition in his stead.

“Entertainment editors selected this award for us, and I appreciate that. Because it’s a film about journalism, and it’s really important today when you see art imitate life,” said Joseph Caliro, the film’s executive producer.

It took the team four years to finish On The Job: The Missing 8, even experiencing challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The award recognizes their efforts in creating a film of such caliber. Matti also won the Best Director award for his masterful work on the film.

Other awards for 'On The Job: The Missing 8' include Best Support Actress for Lotlot de Leon, Best Sound Design for Corinne de San Jose, Best Musical Score for Erwin Romulo, Best Visual Effects for Mothership, Best Editing for Jay Halili, and Best Cinematography for Neil Derrik Bion.

Besides 'On The Job: The Missing 8' 'Big Night' by Jun Robles Lana also won big during the fifth EDDYS. They took home several awards, including Teresa Barrozo for Best Musical Score, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor for Christian Bables.

“The EDDYS is our group’s humble offering to the entertainment industry whose story and histories, kasama na din yung mga history nila Philip Salvador, Alma Moreno, that we in SPEEd continue to write about sa aming newspapers and other platforms,” said Asis.

Asis added that the EDDYS is born of SPEEd’s passion and admiration for Philippine cinema and the immense artistry of those who kept the 102-year tradition alive through good and bad times.
