New Set of Character Posters of 'Space Jam: A New Legacy', Present the Villainous Goon Squad

 

SPACE Jam: A New Legacyhas revealed a new set of posters focused on the ‘Villainous Goon Squad’ who’ll torment LeBron James and the Looney Tunes in the highly-anticipated sequel to 1996’s cult classic.

After a previous set of posters presented the film's heroes, the new images give us a detailed look at Space Jam: A New Legacy's powered-up avatars of professional basketball stars.

The new set of posters shows the Goon Squad in black and white, with the lettering and part of the background in a third color associated with the presented character. 

The first poster, painted menacingly in red, gives a look at Nneka Ogwumike's half-spider Arachnneka. 

The second poster, which uses pink, shows us Damian Lillard’s Chronos completely made of metal. Anthony Davis’ harpy-winged The Brow gets a poster as blue as the high sky. 

As for Klay Thompson’s Wet-Fire, the poster burns in bright yellow. Finally, the last poster exhibits Diana Taurasi’s White Mamba snake body, featuring a poisonous purple.

In Space Jam: A New Legacy, a rogue A.I. (Don Cheadle) traps James and his son Dom (Cedric Joe) in a virtual world. In order to get back to reality, the NBA stars need to join forces with the Looney Tunes and win a dangerous basketball game. 

Space Jam: A New Legacy's impressive voice cast includes Jeff Bergman (Bugs Bunny, Sylvester, Foghorn Leghorn, and Fred Flintstone), Eric Bauza (Daffy Duck and Marvin the Martian), Zendaya (Lola Bunny), Bob Bergen (Porky Pig and Tweety), Jim Cummings (Tasmanian Devil), Gabriel Iglesias (Speedy Gonzales), and Candi Milo (Granny).

‘DITO AT DOON’ STARS CELEBRATE FILM’S SUCCESS VIA VIRTUAL THANKSGIVING PARTY

TBA Studios recently held a virtual thanksgiving party to celebrate the successful digital release of the must-watch movie of the year Dito at Doon (Here and There).

Among those present in their celebration were its lead cast Janine Gutierrez and JC Santos, actors Victor Anastacio, Yesh Burce, Ms. Lotlot de Leon, and director JP Habac. Together with TBA Studios producers, they thanked the outpouring support from the public, press, bloggers, and distribution partners.

“We are grateful to everyone who watched ‘Dito at Doon’. More than providing entertainment, we wanted the viewers to also find solace in these challenging times by experiencing the story of ‘Dito at Doon’,” said director JP Habac.

TBA Studios’ first pandemic production, Dito at Doon enjoyed a lot of firsts — it is the first local film released during the pandemic, the first to be released on five major streaming platforms, extended due to public demand with a simultaneous international release.

It has been receiving rave reviews from critics and the public alike since its domestic online release on March 31, with the film being called a “touching and timely romantic tale” with “stellar performances from its lead cast Janine Gutierrez and JC Santos”. 

This month, the movie has become available in over 60 countries, including the USA, Canada, and select territories in the Middle East, and North Africa via TBA Play. TBA Play is also partnered with international distribution and sales company, TVCO to bring TBA Play contents to key markets in Europe.

Quezon, the final installment of Jerrold Tarog’s historical trilogy, will begin pre-production in June with Tarog still helming the much-anticipated biopic.

The Hollywood action comedy The Comeback Trail top-billed by Robert de Niro and Morgan Freeman will also be released soon.

Congenital Insensitivity to Pain is a rare condition that is not widely-known especially here in the Philippines.

'International Silent Film Festival Manila' Launches Silent Film Competition On Its 15th Year

 

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, MAY 12, 2021 — On its 15th year, the International Silent Film Festival Manila (ISFFM) has stepped up efforts to promote silent filmmaking in the Philippines by establishing Mit Out Sound (MOS): International Silent Film Lab 2021.

 

The ISFFM is a joint partnership among the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), Embassy of France in Manila, Philippine Italian Association, Goethe-Institute Philippinen, Instituto Cervantes de Manila, and Japan Foundation, Manila.

 

Established in 2007, the ISFFM is among the few remaining silent film festivals in the world and the first and oldest Southeast Asian silent film festival. It is an awaited cultural event among cinephiles and music lovers as it brings together film classics and Filipino musicians on the same stage to perform and reinterpret stories.

Through the online MOS: International Silent Film Lab, the ISFFM aims to encourage the production of silent films and discover new talents who will be mentored by local and international filmmakers on story development, editing, technicalities, and other elements of silent filmmaking to better translate their visual narratives.

 

The ISFFM committee will choose 10 filmmakers to undergo the intensive MOS film lab. The FDCP, through its Film Cultural Exchange Program (FCEP), will conduct all MOS activities, including the Visual Storytelling Lab, Safe Filming Lab, and Editing Lab sessions that will be held via Zoom.

 

Participants will each be awarded a production grant worth PHP 50,000 to produce their silent shorts that will premiere at the Silent Short Film Competition in the 15^th ISFFM in November 2021.

 

During the festival’s culmination, incentive awards will also be given: Best Film Award (PHP 20,000 with trophy and certificate), Jury’s Special Prize Award (PHP 10,000 with trophy and certificate), and Jose Nepomuceno Award (PHP 15,000 with trophy and certificate).

 

“Philippine Cinema has lost most of its early silent films. This sad reality inspired the creation of the first Mit Out Sound: International Silent Film Lab in order to revive the interest in silent filmmaking and enhance the expertise of Filipino filmmakers in creating unique and quality films,” said FDCP Chairperson and CEO Liza Diño.

 

She noted that silent filmmaking is crucial in the history of Philippine Cinema because the first movie produced and directed by a Filipino, “Dalagang Bukid” by Jose Nepomuceno, was a silent film. The classic’s release date of September 12, 1919 was the basis of the declaration of Sine Sandaan or One Hundred Years of Philippine Cinema.

Since the production of silent films only appeals to a few filmmakers, the ISFFM has issued a nationwide call for entries by amateur and professional filmmakers aged 16 and above.

With the theme “Reimagining the Past with the Present,” the MOS: International Silent Film Lab seeks to celebrate film retrospective and pay homage to Philippine silent cinema. Submissions must present the filmmakers’ artistic and contemporary reimagination and recreation of any of the following Filipino silent film classics:

●     “Dalagang Bukid” by Jose Nepomuceno

●     “Ang Tatlong Hambog” by Jose Nepomuceno

●     “Ang Manananggal” by Jose Nepomuceno

●     “Moro Pirates” by Jose Nepomuceno

●     “Mang Tano, Nuno ng mga Aswang” by Jose Nepomuceno

●     “Tianak” by Jose Nepomuceno

●     “Mali-Mali” by Jose Nepomuceno

●     “Estrellita del cine” by Jose Nepomuceno

●     “Miracles of Love” by Vicente Salumbides

●     “Patria Amore” by Julian Manansala

●     “Oriental Blood” by Carmen Concha

"Venom" Is Back With A Vengeance, Sink Your Teeth Into The First Trailer For Sequel "Let There Be Carnage"

'VENOM' is back, with a vengeance!

Sink your teeth into the first official Venom: Let There Be Carnage trailer which has just been released by Columbia Pictures. 

The upcoming Spider-Man spinoff film is the sequel to 2018's Venom.

Following the success of the first film, Sony Pictures began developing a sequel to Venom, with the subtitle Let There Be Carnage being revealed in April 2020.

The sequel was originally slated to arrive in October of 2020, though faced multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and is now set for release this coming September in US. 

TOM HARDY & ANDY SERKIS

Tom Hardy (Eddie Brock) returns to the big screen in Venom: Let There Be Carnage as the lethal protector Venom, one of MARVEL’s greatest and most complex characters, who faces a new adversary in the form of Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), a serial killer destined to become the symbiotic super-villain known as Carnage.

In addition to Hardy and Harrelson, Michelle Williams and Reid Scott reprise their roles from the first film.  

Let There Be Carnage also features a number of newcomers, including Naomie Harris, Stephen Graham, Sean Delaney and Larry Olubamiwo.

Directed by Black Panther and The Batman star Andy Serkis.

Created by comic book writer and Venom co-creator David Michelinie alongside legendary Spider-Man artist Mark Bagley, Cletus Kasady first appeared in 1991's Amazing Spider-Man #344, and would debut as Carnage the following year in issue #360.

In the comics, Cletus was Eddie Brock's cellmate at Ryker's Island. Eddie despised Cletus for his murderous, nihilistic worldview and would repeatedly beat him. Before Cletus could kill his cellmate in revenge, the Venom symbiote returned to Eddie and the two made their escape. Little did Eddie know, the symbiote had asexually reproduced, with the newly-created Carnage symbiote bonding to Cletus.

The screenplay is by Kelly Marcel, story by Tom Hardy & Kelly Marcel, based on the Marvel Comics.

The film is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy and Hutch Parker. The executive producers are Barry Waldman, Jonathan Cavendish and Ruben Fleischer.
