MANONG CHAVIT SINGSON

The online game show, known for its lively format, has been making waves by awarding 58 lucky winners with P5,800 cash prizes daily, alongside a grand prize winner chosen through an ascending multiplier for P58,000.

Amidst the jubilation, a heart-touching moment unfolded as "George," a contestant from Quezon Province, nearly missed his moment of a glory due to a missed message from the show’s organizer.

Despite the oversight, the benevolent Manong Chavit Singson, a senatorial candidate from Ilocos Sur, generously awarded George the substantial P58,000 cash prize and emphasized the importance of tuning in to https://www.facebook.com/lcsluischavitsingson and seizing life changing opportunities.

George, who plans to use the prize money for his daughter's medical treatment, speaks of the show's impact on individuals' lives beyond the thrill of winning.

The generosity of Manong Chavit extended further as he gave out an early Christmas gift of P5,000 each to lucky live audience members.

As the show continues to gain momentum, Sebastian encourages viewers nationwide to engage with Luis Chavit Singson on social media, download the VBank PH app for secure transactions, and participate in the daily raffle draws to win big.

With an overwhelming response of over 29,000 reactions, 212,500 comments, and 13,000 shares, the fifth episode of "58 Days ng Milyong-Milyong Pa-Premyo" on December 19, 2024, has captured the hearts and minds of Filipinos everywhere. It promises more excitement and surprises in the days to come.

The online game show will run until February 11, 2025.

MTRCB releases ratings for 10 official entries of the highly anticipated 50th MMFF

WITH Christmas just around the corner, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has released its ratings for the 10 official entries of the highly anticipated 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), set to premiere on December 25, 2024.

Seven of the 10 films were rated fit for family viewing. The Board ensured that each film met the standards for age-appropriate content, aligning with the festival’s mission to celebrate Filipino creativity and storytelling.

“My Future You,” a romantic comedy starring Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin, earned a G rating, suitable for all audiences.

Family drama films “And the Breadwinner is…” starring Unkabogable Superstar Vice Ganda and “Green Bones,” written by National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee, were rated PG, which means viewers 13 years old or below must be accompanied by a parent or supervising adult.

Also rated PG are horror movie “Espantaho,” featuring Judy Ann Santos and Lorna Tolentino; romantic fantasy “Hold Me Close,” written and directed by Jason Paul Laxamana and starring Carlo Aquino and Julia Barretto; action-adventure film “The Kingdom,” featuring Bossing Vic Sotto and Piolo Pascual; and the musical “Isang Himala,” directed by Pepe Diokno and co-written with Ricky Lee.

Rated R-13 (Restricted-13) was given to “Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital,” a horror film based on the 2018 Korean movie “Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.” The committee cited themes, language and violent scenes unsuitable for viewers aged 13 and below.

The psychological thriller “Uninvited,” starring Vilma Santos-Recto, Aga Muhlach and Nadine Lustre, earned an R-16 rating due to prolonged violence, torture, graphic scenes and strong themes unsuitable for children below 16 years old.

Meanwhile, the action-packed film “Topakk” (internationally titled “Triggered”) starring Arjo Atayde and Julia Montes submitted two versions, which received a distinct age-appropriate classification from the MTRCB: R-16 and an R-18 versions, respectively. These dual classifications allow audiences to select the version most suitable for their age and maturity while ensuring responsible viewing.

MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio expressed enthusiasm for this year’s MMFF lineup.

“The MTRCB is honored to collaborate with MMFF in showcasing the best of Filipino cinema,” she said. “These films, with their compelling narratives, not only entertain but also embody our cultural values and creativity.”

She added, “We encourage everyone to support local films. Each movie is crafted with care and is truly worth experiencing. The 50th MMFF is a celebration of the resilience and brilliance of the Philippine film industry.”

This year’s festival marks five decades of celebrating Philippine cinema, offering audiences a rich variety of genres and themes while fostering the growth of the local film industry.

“We extend our gratitude to producers, directors, artists, and MMFF organizers for their cooperation throughout the review process,” said Sotto-Antonio.

“Rest assured that each film has been classified appropriately to ensure meaningful cinematic experiences for all viewers.”  (photo: #CTTO)

BACK TO BACK WINS, DIREK NIJEL DE MESA AS BEST DIRECTOR & BEST CINEMATOGRAPHER AT OSAKA FILM FESTIVAL

AWARD-WINNING International Filmmaker, Direk Nijel de Mesa (with his new “changed name” from Njel to Nijel) made the Philippines proud yet again by winning back-to-back awards for “Best Director” and “Best Cinematographer” at the recently concluded Ima Wa Ima Asian International Film Festival in Osaka, Japan.

It was organized by the Global Maharlika in Kansai, the Philippine Community Coordinating Council, Korean Residents Union in Japan, and the Kyomigaru Creative Collective Group. The awarding ceremony last December 1, 2024 at the massive Sumiyoshi Main Hall featured Entertainment Special Awards for Asian artists working in film, television, and even in new media.

Jane de Leon won “Best Actress” in the Suspense-Thriller-Horror Full-length Category and Kim Ji Soo of South Korea won the “Outstanding International Actor in a cross-cultural series” award for his portrayal in GMA’s “Abot Kamay na Pangarap”.

Direk Nijel’s "Coronaphobia" also won “Best Picture” in the Suspense-Thriller-Horror Category. Daiana Menezes (one of the stars of “Coronaphobia”) and Ms. Jan Christine Reyes of NDMstudios joined Direk Nijel in claiming the award.

“This is really unexpected! We just had a blast—almost like hanging out—during the shoot. It was a labor of friendship and love. We are so happy that you like what were able to accomplish with limited resource,” says an ecstatic Daiana Menezes.

The film is about four foreigners who were stuck in the Philippines during the pandemic--who decided to steal from an adjacent building and a crazy psycho Janitor with Coronaphobia.

"Hopefully, because of this remarkable win, Filipino audiences will finally be given a treat and see this award-winning suspenseful film in the cinemas this 2025!

Congrats Direk Nijel!
